Competencies and Soft Skills for Library and Information Professionals in the Present Era

Abstract

The present era is information era which requires authentic, exhaustive, latest information by all the needy persons: from students, academicians, researchers to scientists; form cultivators to planners and decision makers; from defense personnel to rescuers etc. Library and information centres are established and treated as a Hub of information and knowledge. They preserve and disseminate information and knowledge whenever needed by the stakeholders of parent organisation. The library professionals with competencies and soft skills have to handle the resources and satisfy and attract the users. The paper aims at to discuss some of the competencies and soft skills required for library and information professionals to meet the present day challenges.
