Abstract

A theological library is a special library which specializes in Christianity. The theological libraries all over world have their own place of importance in the scheme of higher learning. Organizations such as the Churches associations have helped to further the work of theological libraries in the ministry of the seminary. Theological college is a separate school for the training of Pastors, Ministers, Priests, etc. Theological Seminary is discourse concerning Christian faith. It is the highest stage of learning. There are different theological colleges in the North Eastern Region of the country which in fact, unexplored area of study for the Library and Information Science. Such colleges also manage good system of libraries; however no scholars in the field seem not to show interest to go for research on this. In this paper a brief account of the libraries of such theological colleges of the region is being discussed based on the findings of a recent extensive survey. The paper aims to examine the modes of collection development, library modernization, function & services, problem in modernizing theological libraries in north eastern states. Some recommendations and suggestions for the future growth and development of theological library in modern perspectives in the region have also been made.
