Abstract

Web2.0 is the latest development of web. It provides collaborative environment to the user community. Face book, blogs, podcast, whatsApp, Wikipedia, RSS feed and many more  have emerged for sharing of information. Libraries are not left behind, and using these tools to help users. The chat sessions can be established with the Librarian. With the Web 2.0 academic libraries need to change by changing to give user oriented services and tracking users into social spaces. The remotely located readers can assistance from library. Owing so many qualities and advantages Web2.0 known as Library 2. 0. With the broad development of Web 2.0 libraries have to manage the changing pattern of users needs. The paper has tried to give the awareness of Library 2.0. How do librarians, be prepared for new age libraries it is expected for  give better services with the help of library 2.0 though it has some drawbacks. The paper attempts the tracing of the role played by Web Technologies in turning a traditional library into a library 2.0 and its application in academic library.
