College Libraries in the Districts of Barak Valley Region of Assam and Their ICT Applications

Abstract

Library is said to be the heart of any academic institution. In a college, the library is the only place where students and teachers get their required information from the stored information sources and databases. In terms of ICT application in the college libraries, the colleges of Barak Valley are also gradually developing like the other parts of the country. Though the Barak Valley Region of Assam State is having 24 provincialized colleges, but only 14 college libraries have introduced ICT in their library services where one college is found to be fully automated. This paper presents the present status of ICT applications in the college libraries of Barak Valley Region.
